Graduate Certificate
The online Graduate Certificate in Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics is a 9-credit program that will help you develop your pharmaceutical knowledge and advance your career in an ever-expanding field. Graduate students are taken on a tour of the human body, exploring the effects that small molecule drugs and medications have on its various systems. In as little as one semester, you’ll learn how scientific discoveries are taken from laboratories to clinical settings, where they’re used to treat illness and disease.
In addition to Fundamentals of Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, graduate students choose four of the following 2-credit electives:
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics I: The Nervous System
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics II: Cardiovascular, Renal and Respiratory Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics III: Endocrine, Musculoskeletal and Reproductive Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics IV: Cancer, Antimicrobial and Antiparasitic Agents
- Pharmacology of Cannabis, Tobacco and Vaping
Earning a Graduate Certificate Online
Offered through the College of Medicine’s Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, this graduate program provides a practical way for current and aspiring professionals to strengthen their knowledge of pharmacology and stand out in an increasingly competitive field. Lessons are presented in a convenient and engaging online format, allowing coursework to be completed anytime and anywhere.
Course content, including recorded lectures and problem sets, is available through Canvas, as are online learning tools that help ensure that professors and classmates are never far out of reach. We’ve taken every measure to ensure that our program caters to a variety of current and aspiring STEM professionals, including (but not limited to):

Non-Degree Seeking Students
Want to weigh your options? Join our graduate program as a non-degree seeking student. As a non-degree seeking student, you’ll be able to take the same online courses and pay the same competitive tuition rate as our graduate certificate students.
Pursue your interests by improving a specific skill in your chosen course. When you’re ready, you’ll be able to transfer up to 3 credits to the graduate certificate, so long as you’re admitted and earn a “B” or higher.
Admissions
Graduate Certificate Admission Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a science field from one of the institutional accreditors (or international equivalent) found at https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/graduate/accreditation or a professional degree (e.g., Pharm.D., BS Pharm, RN, Physician’s Assistant, ARNP, MD, DO)
- An upper-division GPA of 2.0 or above
- At least five full semester courses related to biology, chemistry or physics
Non-Degree Admission Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a science field from one of the institutional accreditors (or international equivalent) found at https://admissions.ufl.edu/apply/graduate/accreditation or a professional degree (e.g., Pharm.D., BS Pharm, RN, Physician’s Assistant, ARNP, MD, DO)

Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Tuition Information
UF’s medical pharmacology and therapeutics graduate certificate program offers competitive tuition for all students, regardless of location. The cost of attendance is broken down as follows:
Application Fee: $30*
Cost per Credit Hour: $550 plus fees
Credits Required for Graduate Certificate: 9
Total Graduate Certificate Tuition: $4,950 plus fees
