Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Graduate Program
Our online Graduate Certificate in Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics is a 9-credit program that introduces students to drug discovery, development and clinical use.
Offered entirely online through the UF College of Medicine’s Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, this graduate program is composed of five courses and can be completed in as little as one semester. You can complete the program at your own pace, earning a certificate without interrupting your personal and professional schedules. Since classes are offered year-round, you can start the program at your convenience.
Earning the Graduate Certificate in Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics enables you to quickly enhance your medical pharmacology knowledge by viewing recorded lectures, completing problem sets and exploring current scientific research. No lab work or research is required. Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Graduate Certificate
Focusing on all the bases of pharmacology, including drug design, research and clinical use, our graduate certificate program offers a unique educational experience that will benefit individuals in both the clinical practice and research fields. This comprehensive certificate program will help students gain a holistic understanding of the role drugs play in medicine and in our everyday lives.
In addition to the required 1-credit course Fundamentals of Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, students must choose four courses from the following 2-credit electives:
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics I: The Nervous System
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics II: Cardiovascular, Renal and Respiratory Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics III: Endocrine, Musculoskeletal, GI and Integumentary Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics IV: Cancer, Antimicrobial and Antiparasitic Agents
- Pharmacology of Cannabis, Tobacco and Vaping.
Non-Degree Seeking Student Information
Students who are not ready to commit to a graduate program can enroll in graduate courses as a non-degree seeking student. This is an excellent way to strengthen your skills in a specialized topic and ease into the online graduate learning experience.
Students enrolled in courses within this program can take up to 3 credit hours as a non-degree seeking student. Non-degree seeking students will also have the option to transfer up to 3 credits to the graduate certificate later, if they apply to be admitted and earn a grade of “B” or higher.

Application Fee: $30*
Cost per Credit Hour: $550 plus fees
Credits Required for Graduate Certificate: 9
Total Graduate Certificate Tuition: $4,950 plus fees
