Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Graduate Program
The online Graduate Certificate in Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics is a 9-credit program that empowers professionals and post-baccalaureate students with foundational medical pharmacology knowledge. Whether you’re interested in a career in biotechnology, drug development or another rapidly expanding role in healthcare, our entirely online program will allow you to work toward those goals (and a graduate certificate) on your own time, at your own pace.
While in the program, you’ll engage with students, faculty and course materials without forgoing your personal or professional commitments. What’s more, you can earn your graduate certificate in as little as one semester from the comfort of your own home.
Our graduate certificate program is composed of five courses that allow students to explore pharmacology from both a clinical and research perspective. In addition to Fundamentals of Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, graduate students can choose four of the following 2-credit electives:
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics I: The Nervous System
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics II: Cardiovascular, Renal and Respiratory Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics III: Endocrine, Musculoskeletal, GI and Integumentary Systems
- Medical Pharmacology and Therapeutics IV: Cancer, Antimicrobial and Antiparasitic Agents
- Pharmacology of Cannabis, Tobacco and Vaping

Offered through the College of Medicine’s Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, our graduate program examines drug discovery and development, exploring how scientific breakthroughs are applied to clinical use. This program is ideal for current and aspiring professionals in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology and drug development, including:

To ensure maximum convenience for working professionals, we’ve designed our program to be entirely online and asynchronous, allowing you to pursue your certification while continuing to work. Throughout the program, you’ll be able to complete recorded lectures and accompanying problem sets online from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection. It really is that convenient.
Non-Degree Seeking Student Information
If you’re not sure you’re ready to pursue a graduate certificate, that’s okay! We have a spot for you, too. Prospective students have the opportunity to enroll in graduate courses as a non-degree seeking student.
As a non-degree seeking student, you’ll be able to choose from the same courses as our graduate students and pay the same competitive tuition costs. You’ll also be able to strengthen your skills in a specialized topic while easing into the online learning experience. This option offers the chance to work toward your certification without having to commit to a graduate program.
You can take up to 3 credit hours as a non-degree seeking student. If you decide to continue your education and pursue the graduate certificate, you’ll be able to transfer up to 3 credits toward that credential, so long as you are admitted and earn a grade of “B” or higher.

UF’s medical pharmacology and therapeutics graduate program offers competitive tuition for all students, regardless of location.
Application Fee: $30*
Cost per Credit Hour: $550 plus fees
Credits Required for Graduate Certificate: 9
Total Graduate Certificate Tuition: $4,950 plus fees
